I moved to Nashville from Montreal in August, to do a Ph.D. in English. I mostly study modernist fiction and poetry, and I'm especially interested in the ways readers wrestle with, wander around in, and inhabit unwieldy and/or formidably difficult encyclopedic novels and book-length poems. A big question for me is: how might that kind of reading change as those works migrate from bound pages to networked screens?
